Style References

With version 6, Midjourney introduced style references, where many style elements are associated with a numeric code. These codes can be used in image creation to specify an existing style for an image.

Midjourneys’ description of style references: “A Style Reference is a way to capture the visual vibe of an existing image and apply it to your new Midjourney creations. It doesn’t copy objects or people, just the overall style—like colors, medium, textures, or lighting—helping you achieve a consistent visual theme.”

Style references can also be used in combination where more than one style reference is used to utilize a blend of two or more style references. When using more than one style reference, individual style references can be weighted to increase or decrease a specific sref influence.

How many style references are there? Apparently around 4 billion of them, so I won’t be exploring more than a minuscule percentage of them.

Aesthetics

Prior to the arrival of style references, aesthetics was one method of designating a specific style when creating images.
